Ode to My Mom this Mother's Day

Without YouMom, without you, there would be no me.
Your love, your attention, your guidance,
have made me who I am.
Without you, I would be lost,
wandering aimlessly,
without direction or purpose.
You showed me the way
to serve, to accomplish, to persevere.
Without you, there would be an empty space
I could never fill, no matter how I tried.
Instead, because of you,
I have joy, contentment, satisfaction and peace.

I love my mom. She often refers to me as her "Miracle Baby". A long time ago, I found out why. When she was pregnant with me, she was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. The doctors told her to have an abortion, because they couldn't treat the cancer while she was pregnant. My mom refused. She risked her life, letting cancer grow inside her to give me life.

I know that a blog post does NOT do justice for the sacrifice she made to have me, but I felt the need to share with you all, what a wonderful woman my mom is. I thank the Lord she is still on this earth.
