So Blessed

Last week was tough. I am still getting over being sick, but have been back to work since 11/5. Friday was our date night and we got together with some friends for dinner and then went to a movie afterwards. I had, had a pretty bad headache for most of the day and it was not getting any better by that evening. My cough wasn't helping, either.

When we finally got home my headache had turned into a full-blown migraine. (Let me just tell you, having a cough during a migraine is NO picnic.) It was BAD. All I could do was sit and cry. I remembered that I had a sample of a new prescription medication for migraines and took it. I went to bed to try to get some sleep, but that made it worse.

I got up and sat on the couch and Mike got out of bed and sat with me. (1st gold star)

He then gave me a Husband's Blessing. (2nd gold star)

He then asked if there was anything else I needed. (3rd gold star)

I asked for a piece of celery (wha???) because it felt like the pill was stuck in my throat, I had tried drinking a large glass of water and it didn't help. I thought maybe swallowing something a little more solid would help the pill go down. I had already brushed my teeth for the night and didn't want to eat anything that would stick to my teeth. So, then he got up, in the dark (at 2am) and cut and washed a piece of celery for me. (4th gold star)

My head mercifully started feeling better and we went to bed. Mike rubbed my back and made sure I was OK before going to sleep. (5th gold star)

This was just one example of how blessed I am to have such a wonderful husband. I never, in all my life thought that I could be so happy. Before Mike and I met, I had prayed and prayed that I would meet the person who was right for me and more importantly, that I would recognize this answer to my prayer and act accordingly.

I understand why being married to the right person in the right place is so important. We have had our share of trials and struggles and we have been VERY fortunate to be able to get through them, becoming closer for it.

I like the quote: "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." That fits us so perfectly. I feel like I can face any challenge, weather any storm, as long as I have my best friend and eternal companion by my side.

I love my husband. He is the Yin to my Yang, the Ham to by Beans, the Clyde to my Bonnie, the Fred to my Wilma, the Homer to my Marge.

I am so grateful that Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom, gave me this wonderful gift.

It's Peanut Buttah Jelly Time!!!

I just made a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich. It was sooooo good! It had the perfect ratio of peanut butter to strawberry jam to bread. I followed that with an ice cold glass of milk.

MMMMMMMMMM it was just a little bit of heaven!

You know, it's simple pleasures like this, that really make life great!

I Hate Being Sick

Yep, I caught my annual cold. Luckily, it didn't turn into bronchitis. I have been sick for almost a week. I guess the part that bothers me the most is coughing. I can deal with the rest, because I can slip into my little Nyquil induced coma and sleep it off in a few days. With a cough, nothing seems to help. I use cough drops, cough syrup, nothin, nada, zip. I still cough. My throat gets raw, my neck and back muscles ache and... it brings on my headaches. Niice.

I am not fishin' for sympathy. I just hate getting sick.

Ranting

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I am so glad we live in this country and have the right to vote and have free speech... Which is exactly what I am exercising right now.

I have been registered to vote since I was 18. I have voted in every election, both local and national ever since. When I lived in CA, I helped my parents run a polling place for over 10 years. I say all this because I cherish my right as a American to vote.

What absolutely drives me nuts is ALL the calls (we have gotten about 10 in the last hour) and our mailbox being stuffed with all the campaign junk mail, and not even receiving a sample ballot in the mail!!

Anyhoo, I don't know if anyone else is as irritated as I am.

Sometime tomorrow, I will go and vote.

One more thing... Thank you to all the men women who serve, who have fought and died protecting my right to live free in this country, preserving my right to vote and rant about my little irritations.

Our "Kids"

I came across this website called makemebabies.com and you upload pictures of you and your spouse and they mix and stir your pictures together and give you the outcome. Apparently, this is what our kids will look like. I think it's kinda creepy... fun, but creepy.

Renaissance Fair

On Saturday, Mike and I went to a local Renaissance Fair. It was great. We sat and listened to what life was like in the 16th century... let's just say that I am glad I live in this century! There were Jesters on unicycles, Jousters, Gypsies, Knights and so much more. The costumes were great.

Mike and I were put in the stocks. They hurt! We were only in there long enough for the pictures. I cannot imagine what the poor people went through being in there for days, weeks or longer!
Here we are standing next to a suit of armor. The knights who wore these had to be in great shape, they weighed in excess of 150 lbs! Imagine running or fighting in this!
Mike and I were taken back in time and became "royalty". Don't I look elegant? Mike looks so regal!

Guilty Pleasures

OK... I recently started blogging again as you can read below, and now I am absolutely addicted. I never thought it would be so much fun!! I was never into journaling before, I always thought it was tedious. Blogging is very interactive and you can add pictures and videos, and, and, ....

Well, many of my friends have blogs too, and I read theirs to keep up on their life. They have their friends listed on their blogs. Well, my actual "guilty pleasure" is reading other peoples blogs! I will sit for hours sometimes and read the blogs of people I don't even know! It is so interesting to "connect" with other people in this way.

So, upon revealing my little "hobby" to some of my friends, I unexpectedly get the response: "SO DO I !!!!!!!" I am so glad that I am not the only one.

That being said... for anyone who comes across our blog the same way... feel free to drop us a line and let us know who you are! What a great way to make new friends!
