Road Trip

My hubby and I were able to take a last minute trip for Valentine's Day/My Birthday. We went with some friends to Ruidoso, NM, which is in the mountains.

It still had snow on the ground and was really pretty.

The cool thing was, we were able to stay at their house so we didn't have to rent a hotel.

We did some shopping......

and saw the sights.

We played games and read and relaxed. It was a great weekend. The nice thing is, the drive was less than 2 hrs.

Our friends left before us and we told them we would clean and close up the house. We got home on Sunday afternoon and were unpacking. I was looking for the bag of dirty clothes, so I could put them to wash. After asking my hubby where it was, we realized we had accidentally thrown the bag away!! We called our friend (who owns the house), explained what happened and between hysterical peals of laughter, I was able to ask her if she could find someone up there that could check the garbage for us. Thankfully, our clothes were there and we should get them back soon.

On a side note, notice the lovely pictures we took? Yeah.... we forgot our camera!

Well, I hate to have to do this, but I have to now put the word verification on my blog for commenters. I am now getting SPAM comments!!!! Just one more thing to make my eye twitch!

Projects

Happy New Year!!

I hope all had a wonderful Christmas as well. My parents came out to visit. It was great seeing them.

My dad has some serious skills in the construction/handyman/jack of all trades areas, and this year for Christmas, our gift was some much needed fencing. I know it doesn't sound all that exciting... but for us, it was.

In New Mexico, rock walls are the norm for fencing. Our yard is no different. Our back yard butts up against a street, so people walk by all the time. Our back wall is only 4ft high and people can look right into our yard (and house) when they walk past, (and trust me, they do look).

My dad was gracious enough to foot the bill for some wood fencing to finally give us privacy. We got the fence up over a 3 day period.

The first day was shopping for the wood, cutting the fence boards down to size and "dog earring" each board for aesthetic purposes.

The second day was building and installing the framing in each section.

The third day was putting the boards up.

I am so pleased with the results. Lemme just say.... no more tan lines for us!!!

P.S.

I am also including pictures of pajama bottoms I made for my hubby and father-in-law.

Oh Christmas Tree... Oh Christmas Tree, Can we Assemble Your Branches...

We FINALLY got our Christmas tree up!! We started putting it up on Sunday, and finished up today. (I kinda had to, my Visiting Teachers were coming over!)

The top picture shows our two "helpers" as we were putting the branches on. The weights on the left are to go on the stand (as a counterbalance), because we only put half of the lower branches on, so it wouldn't stick out so far and block the walkway. Anyhoo...

You can't really tell, but I like to put the lights on layer by layer because it's so much easier. I also like to put LOTS of lights on the tree. My hubby had to take over putting the lights on the top, because my arms were just too short, even with the step stool.

The last picture is the finished product. The picture doesn't do it justice. We are really happy with the way it turned out.

Now we just have to wrap presents to put under it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS Everyone!!!!!

Let It Snow...

I am a little behind on posting. Sorry...

On December 4, we looked out our window and saw that it was snowing!!! We were so excited!! These pictures of us are in our back yard. Mike had met some friends earlier that evening to watch a football game and when he got home, the car was covered in snow and we ended up having a snowball fight in our garage! As we were throwing snow at each other, he said "I don't know how you are able to talk me into things like this!" (he said this as he was laughing and reloading) It was awesome.
